Mayor Bill Peduto has declared February 28th "60th Anniversary of The Pittsburgh Experiment Day" in the City of Pittsburgh. We are honored and humbled to carry on the legacy of those who have come before us. It reads:
60th Anniversary of The Pittsburgh Experiment Day
February 28, 2015
Whereas, The Pittsburgh Experiment began with the ministry of Rev. Dr. Samuel M. Shoemaker, a nationally known preacher, and a prolific author, who came to Pittsburgh from New York City in 1952; and
Whereas, Rev. Shoemaker was a valued pastor whose contributions and service to Alcoholics Anonymous have had a worldwide effect; he used the very same principles of love, acceptance, and availability to found the The Pittsburgh Experiment to serve men and women in the workplace; and
Whereas, those whose lives have been changed by The Pittsburgh Experiment have gone on to make a positive, lasting impact on the people of our city and beyond; and
Whereas, The Pittsburgh Experiment has been acknowledged by The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as one of our region’s most influential non-profit organizations.
Now therefore be it resolved that I, William Peduto, Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh, do hereby declare February 28, 2015 “60th Anniversary of The Pittsburgh Experiment Day” here in our most livable City of Pittsburgh.
